Hack Club is an awesome 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps tens of thousands of high schoolers code and build cool things. Despite creating seriously innovative projects, some Hack Club students are coding on old, barely-functioning computers—or in some cases, just their phones. Let’s change that.


When you pre-order a Framework Laptop 12, you can choose to donate $250 USD or more to Hack Club. Your donation goes into a pool that funds Framework Laptop 12 systems for Hack Club students around the world. To celebrate doing good and helping others, we’ll move your order into Batch 0—the earliest shipping batch for your configuration.

Hack Club has given away hundreds of thousands of dollars of Framework Laptops, 3D printers, and Raspberry Pis in the past year. They host dozens of really cool, unique hackathons on trains and in forests for free. As a result, Hack Club members have shipped projects from all around the world.

A few Hack Club projects we love.

Remedy-Renemy (itch.io): A potion-brewing game with beautiful artwork by Tongyu & Kai Ling, who won first place at the Counterspell Global Hackathon.

You Throw Me (website): A multiplayer mobile game about destroying expensive tech, utilizing web sockets, front-end frameworks, and built-in phone accelerometers. Created by Joaquin.

2D Minecraft in C++ (GitHub): A browser-compatible 2D Minecraft featuring a custom game engine by Chengyin. Also available as a full Minecraft mod (Modrinth), with close to 2,000 downloads.

  • Hack Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that enables young coders and makers.

  • Yes, you can donate to Hack Club through their normal donation flow.

  • Yes, as long as you are purchasing through the configurator, and not through a volume ordering pathway.

  • Yes, you can add a donation up until we start processing your order. You will receive an email letting you know when your pre-order is going to begin processing.

  • Yes, you can donate as many times as you would like before the donation window closes. Use your unique donation link so that your donation gets tied back to your order.

  • You can pay with a non-USA credit card, but Hack Club can only accept donations in USD.

  • You can’t transfer Batch 0 slots to other people / orders.

  • Yes, you can modify your pre-order and remain in Batch 0.

  • No. Donations are non-refundable. If you cancel your pre-order, or your order is canceled for Loss Prevention reasons (due to freight forwarding or fraud), you will not get your donation back.

  • This depends on your laptop configuration. You should be able to see up-to-date shipping timelines for each Batch 0 in the configurator.

  • If you pay US federal taxes, your contribution is tax-deductible. Hack Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the EIN 81-2908499.
