Factory Seconds Framework Laptop 13 DIY Edition (11th Gen Intel® Core™) Kit

Factory Seconds laptops are new systems that use excess parts. Each laptop is pre-packaged with a Framework screwdriver only. This kit allows you to select one or more of our recommended modules to start your own DIY build. You can also bring your own or browse the Framework Marketplace for more options.

A-stock units contain a matte display, while B-stock units contain an original display with slight cosmetic issues: fine lines on the surface that are noticeable from certain angles and/or backlight non-uniformity visible from an angle on a white screen (shown in the GIFs). Aside from the display, the A-stock and B-stock systems match the cosmetic specs we use for new laptops.

What makes up a Factory Seconds laptop?

Factory Seconds laptops are new systems that use excess parts. Rather than scrapping this material, we combine it with new parts, run it through our normal factory tests, and make the resulting laptops available at greatly reduced prices. The current batch of Factory Seconds laptops are manufactured from excess material from the Framework Laptop (11th Gen Intel Core) era that we received and inventoried when closing our original sub-assembly manufacturing site in China.

The only functional difference between the A-stock and B-stock configurations is in the display. We found that some of the excess displays have slight cosmetic issues. One issue is a wavy pattern on the surface that is noticeable from certain angles, and the other is a backlight non-uniformity visible from an angle on a white screen. We’ve categorized those as B-stock and further reduced pricing on them. Aside from the display, the A-stock and B-stock systems match the cosmetic specs we use for new laptops.

Factory Seconds laptops go through the same extensive testing process at our manufacturing center in Taiwan that our other newly manufactured laptops do. All Factory Seconds laptops meet the performance and functionality levels of the original new products they are based on.

Are these under warranty?
Factory Seconds Framework Laptops follow the same Framework Limited Warranty as new systems, with one exception: cosmetic defects that do not impact functional performance are not covered under warranty.
